The Killing – Official First Look Trailer
The Killing Star Mireille Enos in Talks for The Gangster Squad
Mireille Enos, perhaps best known for her role as Jodeen Marquart on the HBO’s Big Love is another excellent casting choice for Ruben Fleischer’s mob-themed feature The Gangster Squad.
Mireille Enos is probably joining Emma Stone to make sure that period crime The Gangster Squad promotes not only testosterone synthesis, but also estrogen. The male cast already includes Sean Penn, Michael Pena, Anthony Mackie, Giovanni Ribisi and Ryan Gosling.
Enos will play worried, but always supportive wife of Josh Brolin’s character, one of the few cops in the LAPD in the 1940s who wasn’t being paid off to protect notorious gangster Mickey Cohen, to be played by Sean Penn. Ryan is also attached to star as Sgt. Jerry Wooters, a good cop who loves the bachelor life.
Amy Adams and Kate Winslet were previously considered to play the role.
The script was penned by Will Beall (Castle) and is based on a seven-part LA Times article written by Paul Lieberman, centered on how in the 1940s, amid corruption and chaos, the LAPD’s Gangster Squad unit works to ensure the East Coast mafia stay out of the city .
The Gangster Squad movie is set to kick off filming next month.
Mireille Enos, who is currently off shooting World War Z as Brad Pitt’s co-star, playing a similar role of his wife in the film, moved to leading role status with AMC’s The Killing (a remake of Forbrydelsen) portraying Sarah Linden, for which role she received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series on July 14th, 2011.
