Oh, my God! I really like this movie! And I never
ever thought that I'm going to say this – but this year's TIFF is definitely full of surprises!
As usual, I have a feeling that I have to write something spectacular about some movie. But this time, I don't give a shit if you're going to pay attention to this title, or not, simply because
Ole Christian Madsens‘
Superclasico deserves only one word – Super!
This comedy has it all. Great cast, great dialogues. I mean – when someone says “Yes, Julio Iglesias, it's
lobe!” – then I say – yeah man, you're funny! Really refreshing project, or as they already describe it – “quite possibly the happiest movie about divorce ever made.”
So, what do you get when you mix cold Denmark and hot Argentina? Superclasico, indeed!
And now, the synopsis part: “Wine store owner Christian (Anders W. Berthelsen) is on the verge of bankruptcy and he is as unsuccessful in just about every other aspect of life. His wife Anna (
Paprika Steen) has left him.
She now works as a successful sports agent in Buenos Aires and lives a life of luxury with star football player Juan Diaz. One day, Christian and their 16-year-old son get on a plane for Buenos Aires. Christian arrives under the pretense of wanting to sign the divorce papers with Anna, but in truth, he wants to try to win her back…
Superclasico is filmed in Buenos Aires, and as I mentioned above, the movie comes from the acclaimed Danish director of
Flame And Citron, Ole Christian Madsen. Movie stars great
Anders W. Berthelsen, Paprika Steen, Sebastian Estevanez, Jamie Morton, Adriana Mascialino and
Dafne Schilling.
Let me know what you think about this!
