Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie Voice Cast Announced
Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, Martin Landau, and Martin Short have all signed to lend their voices to Tim Burton's stop motion animated remake of Frankenweenie.
The movie, scripted by John August, will be based on the 1984 comedic horror short Burton made as a student, the story tells of a man who brings his dog back to life after it is killed by a car.
Winona Ryder, who worked with Burton on Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands, is voice Elsa, a new character to the story. Martin Landau is playing Mr. Rzykruski, another new figure. Martin Short is voicing five different characters (Bob, Nassor, Toshiaki, Victor's Dad and Mr Bergermeister), as is Catherine O'Hara (Edgar, Weird Girl, Victor's Mum, and the gym teacher), who worked on the Burton-produced A Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetlejuice.
Frankenweenie will be shot in black and white 3D and is set for release by Walt Disney Pictures on March 9, 2012.
