Earlier today we got a look at a teaser poster for the collection of short films based on stories by Australian writer Tim Winton and now here’s the teaser trailer for the omnibus The Turning.
The upcoming full-length movie featuring directorial debut of on screen talents like Cate Blanchett, Mia Wasikowska and David Wenham along with other filmmakers like Jonathan auf der Heide (Fog), Tony Ayres (Cockleshell), Shaun Gladwell (Family), Ashlee Page (On Her Knees), Stephen Page (Sand), Rhys Graham (Small Mercies), Ian Meadows (Defender), Yaron Lifschitz (Immunity), Jub Clerc (Abbreviation), Robert Connolly (Aquifer), Anthony Lucas (Damaged Goods), Warwick Thornton (Big World), Justin Kurzel (segment Boner McPharlin’s Moll), Marieka Walsh (Ash Wednesday) and Claire McCarthy (segment The Turning).
Aussie thesps starring in the film includes Blanchett, Rose Byrne, Hugo Weaving, Miranda Otto, Brenna Harding, Richard Roxburgh, Callan Mulvey, Dan Wyllie, Oscar Redding, Robyn Nevin, Susie Porter, Wayne Blair, Mirrah Foulkes and numerous others.
The trailer is lovely and evocative without any spoilers. Check it out.
The cast gives us some hope it’ll get at least a VOD release worldwide, but the three-hour running time and the film’s sketchy structure might limit its chances in theaters.
The Turning will premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival next month.
