Taking a step into comedy sounds like a good step for Cruise. As already said, he's terrific in “Tropic Thunder“. He's never really made a purely comedic film, only films with comedic elements, and that's not for want of comedy talent.
Veteran scribe Adam Brooks who wrote and directed the enjoyable film “Definitely, Maybe” is attached to write the screenplay. A search for a director is under way.
