Top 10 Movie Trailers Of 2013 (2nd Half)
I posted back in July our list of the top 10 best trailers released in the first six months of 2013. Now it’s time to turn our attention to the second half of this year.
More than one film has been a huge failure following the ad that preceded it because a trailer can be far better at conveying the message of the movie than the movie itself is.
Check out this list of the top 10 best trailers for the second half of 2013.
10. American Hustle
It’s hard to unravel the knotted up elements that make this trailer so exciting for film fans. The next David O. Russell film? More Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence? Super sexy Amy Adams? American Hustle? Yes, please.
9. X-Men: Days of Future Past
The dramatic voice-over from a familiar voice. The building musical score recycled from other movies. The prospect that one of Marvel’s most exciting teams will fully recover its film footing in the presentation of one of the comic’s most beloved storylines. Days of Future Past movie may fail, but this trailer doesn’t.
8. Winter’s Tale
A perfectly tuned trailer that shouldn’t need multiple iterations to appeal to male and female moviegoers. With a cast set on “max appealing,” Winter’s Tale time-traveling flick will do well if it’s half as stunning.
7. Jupiter Ascending
The Wachowski siblings are back and have created a whole new visually stunning world for fans in Jupiter Ascending. Known for their work on The Matrix, Andy and Lana have created unknown worlds and given them life on the big screen.
6. Interstellar
This is the next film from The Dark Knight Trilogy director Christopher Nolan and is a unique take on sci-fi and time travel. Not much is given away in the trailer, which is common for Nolan, but fans are already counting down the days until November 7th when the original sci-fi epic, Interstellar will arrive in theaters.
5. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Peter Parker aka Spider-Man is back in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man. This electric sequel features many well-known villains and Andrew Garfield as the lead character is having more fun. Note that Sony Pictures owns the film rights to Spider-Man but no other Marvel characters.
4. Captain America: The Winter Solider
Marvel is known for making movies that break box office records and the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier will do the same. This film marks the return of Captain America in a solo film and is a part of the second story leading up to the new Avengers film, Age of Ultron. Watch the trailer in all its star-spangled glory.
3. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
The iterations that followed this initial trailer for the long-overdue film adaptation of James Thurber’s famous short story are a prime example of how the demographic targeting of studios can weaken a great trailer. Let us make our escape together through this great-looking teaser of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
2. The Grand Budapest Hotel
Wes Anderson‘s tropes leap out from the first frame of this trailer and don’t stop whapping the viewer on the head until a minute after it’s over. Judging by the teaser, the Moonrise Kingdom follow-up looks absolutely delightful.
1. Godzilla
Godzilla is one of the most famous movie monsters of all time and is now getting rebooted for the big screen. The titular kaiju is in a stunning, smokey silhouette. Could you feel the hair stand up on the back of your neck?
