So,
Tim Burton presents
Timur Bekmambetov film? And, no, I'm not talking about
Sweeney Todd and his old faithful friends – razors. I'm here today to present you Abraham Lincoln with his – so far unknown friend – axe.
Sweeney was my first thought when I saw these posters for
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter which doesn't necessarily mean I don't like them, on the contrary.
I love the design on these. The first one features
Benjamin Walker as Abraham Lincoln in White House and the spooky one shows Lincoln in dark moonlit forest.
If you look better the only thing that doesn't change is that Lincoln sits on the same chair with an axe in his right hand and his left hand tipping his top hat.
And if you're still reading this highly detailed analysis of the posters for the film, I'm honestly delighted. So, let's move on!
The film is Bekmambetov's adaptation of
Seth Grahame-Smith's mash-up novel, produced by Burton, which re-imagines our 16th president as a vampire slayer stomping through the Civil War-era United States.
Young Lincoln, having learned that his grandfather and mother were killed by vampires, vows to kill every last blood-sucker in a country that is crawling with them.
At the end let us remind you that the film also stars
Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Mary Todd Lincoln,
Dominic Cooper as Henry Sturgess,
Rufus Sewell as Adam,
Alan Tudyk as Stephen A. Douglas,
Jaqueline Fleming as Harriet Tubman,
Robin McLeavy as Nancy Hanks Lincoln,
Anthony Mackie as William Johnson,
Jimmi Simpson as Joshua Speed and many others.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter will open in 3D on June 22nd, 2012. [source:
