Back in late June, Vin Diesel dropped a note on his Facebook page about being called in for a meeting with Marvel and it happened again Sunday.
The Fast & the Furious franchise star is now implying that he'll be voicing the living tree creature, Groot, which only speaks the one phrase, ‘I am Groot!'
On his extremely popular Facebook page Diesel has even changed his cover photo to the Guardians of the Galaxy team member.
However, this news wasn't revealed at this weekend's D23 Expo, so it's quite possible the contracts weren't signed yet.
Whatever the case, it's a fascinating choice and his gravelly voice is so distinct that I'm surprised he hasn't done a ton more animation work than he has (The Iron Grant).
The live-action parts of the next epic adventure from Marvel Studios, directed by James Gunn from his screenplay are currently in production with the more humanoid characters being played by Chris Pratt (Peter Quill aka Star-Lord), Lee Pace (Ronan the Accuser), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), John C. Reilly (Rhomann Dey), Glenn Close (Nova Prime), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Djimon Hounsou (Korath), Benicio del Toro (The Collector) in the highly anticipated August 1st, 2014 release.
And the next question is, ‘Who'll voice Rocket Raccoon?' Or you should not buy this – as we all know how Vin likes to play games with us – and you are still holding out for Thanos or Rocket Raccoon?
