Uncensored Trailer Footage for Maniac Remake

Here’s Cannes teaser trailer for Franck Khalfoun‘s remake of 1980s slasher film Maniac and it’s a lot more disturbing than we had ever imagined.

Despite the fact the script was co- written by Piranha 3D’s Alexandre Aja (plus Grégory Levasseur & C.A. Rosenberg), from the looks of it, seems that Maniac will be an interesting cinematic proposition.

The original Bill Lustig-directed starred Joe Spinell as a serial killer haunting the streets of NYC, and here, Elijah Wood a.k.a. Frodo plays Frank, the reclusive owner of a local mannequin store.

Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.

Co-starring with Wood is America Olivo (Frank’s mother) and Nora Arnezeder (Anna).
