The project has been in development since September of 2010 and now the first trailer is available for director Kasper Barfoed’s The Numbers Station. John Cusack took on the roleof an ex-CIA black-ops agent when original star/producer Ethan Hawke dropped out from the first American effort from Danish filmmaker Barfoed, which also stars smokey-eyed actress Malin Akerman (who worked with Cage in Stolen) as a code operator.
The script penned by video game producer–turned-screenwriter F. Scott Frazier follows a skilled-yet-disgraced black-ops agent Emerson Kent (Cusack) who is put on simple bodyguard duty for a woman named Katherine (Akerman) working at a secret CIA broadcast base known as a Numbers Station – a location where top secret codes are issued to agents to take out wet work tasks.
When the station was ambushed by an elite team of heavily armed assailants, Emerson and Katherine suddenly find themselves in a life-or-death struggle against an unknown enemy.
One of seven movies Cusack has coming out in 2013, The Numbers Station is expected to open on April 26th, 2013.
