Guys from Warner Bros. are definitely not kidding with this one. They have now acquired the screen rights to the bestselling novel by Deborah Harkness, titled A Discovery of Witches.
Sounds pretty exotic, especially if you’re Harry Potter or Twilight fan.
So no wonder we already had a chance to hear that the Studio purchased the whole thing for an unknown sum, as well as that some great team will be involved.
And while we’re still here at the “great team” part, let us mention that Denise DiNovi and Allison Greenspan will produce, while guys from Deadline add “they’ll put a writer on it right away as the studio looks for more opportunities to tap the fantasy vein now that the Harry Potter series has concluded.”
A Discovery Of Witches is the first part of a trilogy that features witches, vampires, and demons.
Here’s the description of the book that comes straight from the publisher: “In Harkness’s lively debut, witches, vampires, and demons outnumber humans at Oxford’s Bodleian Library, where witch and Yale historian Diana Bishop discovers an enchanted manuscript, attracting the attention of 1,500-year-old vampire Matthew Clairmont.
