Hi guys! The Equalizer update time! Marton Csokas is famous for being a New Zealand film and television actor, but with a couple of major movies on the horizon he’s a hot commodity in Hollywood.
Csokas is now nabbed the villain role in the Antoine Fuqua’s adaptation of 1980s The Equalizer with Denzel Washington set to star as Robert McCall, a former intelligence officer forced to spring back into action. The Sony drama also has Chloe Moretz in the cast as a young prostitute who the lead (Washington) must protect.
Csokas will play a rogue CIA agent acting in concert with the Russian mob who winds up crossing paths with the ruthless protagonist.
Fuqua who helmed Washington’s Oscar-winning Training Day is directing from a screenplay by Richard Wenk (The Expendables 2), based on the CBS TV series ‘The Equalizer’ that ran from 1985 to 1989.
Production is scheduled to begin during the summer in Boston.
The Equalizer hits theaters April 11th, 2014.
Csokas who recently appeared in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and The Lord of the Rings movies (Celeborn) is currently shooting The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and has already wrapped Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, where he played the character Damian Lord.
