Brian Cox Joins Rise of the Apes
Brian Cox is in final negotiations to join the cast of the Planet of the Apes prequel, Rise of the Apes.
Yes, this means the actor will join quite impressive cast that already includes James Franco, Frieda Pinto, John Lithgow and Andy Serkis, but it also means that Cox will be reuniting with director Rupert Wyatt who he worked with on The Escapist.
Now that’s something that already smells like some successful primate franchise…
Rise of the Apes is “an origin story in the truest sense of the term. Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.”
In other words, movie will follow “a scientist who is working on a cure for Alzheimer’s and testing it on apes. The potential cure causes the test subject ‘Caesar’ to evolve rapidly and scientist must protect him from the doctors who want to harm the animal. Little does he know that trying to find a cure of Alzheimer’s and protecting a defenseless ape will lead to the destruction of human civilization.”
Andy Serkis Joins Rise of the Apes
Andy Serkis has joined the cast of the Rise of the Apes, the Planet of the Apes prequel, expected for a summer 2011 release.
Nothing to be surprised about, right, since we all know Serkis is more than familiar with voicing (or if you prefer, playing) digital characters (Gollum in the Lord of the Rings, and Kong in King Kong). So, that’s quite a monkey business for this actor. Just a joke.
Director Rupert Wyatt will be in charge for Rise of the Apes movie that will follow “a scientist who is working on a cure for Alzheimer’s and testing it on apes.
The potential cure causes the test subject “Caesar” to evolve rapidly and scientist must protect him from the doctors who want to harm the animal. Little does he know that trying to find a cure of Alzheimer’s and protecting a defenseless ape will lead to the destruction of human civilization.”
So, Andy Serkis is set to star as Ceaser in Rise of the Apes portraying chimp who leads the simian revolt”.
John Lithgow and Freida Pinto Join James Franco in Rise of the Apes
John Lithgow and Freida Pinto have joined the cast of 20th Century Fox’s Planet of the Apes prequel, titled Rise of the Apes.
James Franco has already signed on Fox’s prequel.
The movie centres on a scientist (James Franco) who begins testing a cure for Alzheimer’s on apes. The test subject named Caesar starts to evolve rapidly, and the scientist takes him home to live with him and protects him from cruel doctors.
It is unclear how much of the movie will focus on the ape inciting an ape revolution and the apes will not be actors in costumes but rendered digitally to be photo-realistic.

Leap Year Review

“Leap Year” tells the story of a successful working woman played by Amy Adams. Her job is to take upper class apartments and furnish them before the realtor starts shopping them. She is very good at her job and once the apartment is sold, she returns and removes all the furnishings. Her opinion is she is selling people a dream. She is also a dominating woman who believes that her strong will is enough to get her anything she wants. When her boyfriend fails to propose to her on the night she believes it is coming, she becomes depressed. Her absentee father (John Lithgow) pops back into her life after a lengthy absence and recounts how her grandmother proposed to her grandfather on Feb. 29 in a Leap Year, an old Irish tradition. She sets off to Dublin, where her boyfriend is on a business trip, with the intentions of proposing to him on Leap Year.
Anna (Adams) is a stereotypically overly organized woman, the type who wipes down the edge of the counter when sipping wine at a bar. Her boyfriend, Jeremy (Adam Scott), is an overworked cardiologist. They live by BlackBerry scheduling.
When Jeremy travels to Dublin, Ireland, for a convention, Anna decides to tag along later and, in an Irish tradition, surprise him by proposing marriage on Feb. 29 – Leap Day. Which might have been a better title, who knows…read more [AZ Central]
