Monsters Vs. Aliens Teaser Poster

The first teaser posters for the upcoming DreamWorks animation’ flick (’50s monster movie remake) “Monsters vs. Aliens” has been released and features one of their few funny characters, big gooey blue Blob, voiced by Seth Rogen.

When California girl Susan Murphy is unexpectedly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk, she mysteriously grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall and is instantly labeled a “monster” named Ginormica. The military jumps into action, and she is captured and held in a secret government compound. The world learns that the military has been quietly rounding up other monsters over the years. This ragtag group consists of the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D.; the macho half-ape, half-fish The Missing Link; the gelatinous and indestructible B.O.B.; and the 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus. Their confinement time is cut short however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and begins storming the country.

“Monsters vs. Aliens” is directed by Rob Letterman (who directed “Shark Tale“) and Conrad Vernon (who directed “Shrek 2“), two very experienced DreamWorks team members.

Susan Murphy aka Ginormica (Reese Witherspoon), is a modern-day California girl who has the bad luck to be hit by a meteor on her wedding day and grows to be 49 feet, 11½ inches tall.

Ginormica is taken to a secret government compound where she meets a ragtag group of monsters also rounded up over the years. As a last resort, under the guidance of General W.R. Monger (Kiefer Sutherland), on a desperate order from The President, the motley crew of Monsters is called into action to combat the aliens and save the world from imminent destruction!

Aside from Witherspoon, other actors joining the film include Hugh Laurie (Dr. Cockroach, PhD), Seth Rogen (the jellylike B.O.B.), Will Arnett (the half-ape, half-fish Missing Link), Kiefer Sutherlan (Gen. W.R. Monger), Stephen Colbert (the president), and finally, Rainn Wilson (the evil alien Gallaxhar).

“Monsters vs. Aliens” is scheduled to hit conventional and 3-D IMAX theaters on March 27th, 2009.

A new red band clip and quad poster for Kevin Smith’s “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” is now online.

Zack and Miri are long-time friends and ten years after they have graduated from high school and being roommates, they have yet to accomplish anything great in their lives. Troubled with the second eviction notice, the two lifelong platonic friends are desperate to pull something amazing to get them quick cash. Then, they come across a moneymaking idea, making ‘Star Whores’, an amateur porn movie. All they need now is the actors.

Stephen Chow to Direct and Star in Green Hornet !

In a press release sent out today Columbia Pictures announced Stephen Chow, one of Asia’s most popular box-office draws as the award-winning star and director - “Shaolin Soccer”, “CJ7″ and “Kung Fu Hustle,” will direct and star in “The Green Hornet.” Chow will star as Kato, opposite Seth Rogen who co-wrote the film with Evan Goldberg (also executive produce).

The film will be shot in the style of Chow’s classic martial arts masterpiece Kung Fu Hustle. It will be sort of a Looney Tunes meets Black Belt Theatre update of the classic 1966 TV show. Martial Arts master Bruce Lee originally portrayed Kato in the original series.

This is what Stephen Chow said about the announcement that says that he is set to direct “The Green Hornet”:

“I’m excited to be taking on “The Green Hornet” - obviously, I’ve been a huge fan of the show since I was a kid. The idea of stepping into Bruce Lee’s shoes as Kato is both humbling and thrilling, and to get the chance to direct the project as my American movie debut is simply a dream come true. I’m grateful to my friends at Sony, who have shown so much faith in me for so many years. I’m looking forward to working with Seth, Evan, Neal, and the team at Sony, and I’m eager to get started.”

Rogen said:

“Stephen was always my and Evan’s first choice for director and to play Kato. We just hope that he never finds out we’re not the Wachowski Brothers.”
