Kevin Durand and Callan McAuliffe In I Am Number Four

Kevin DurandAre you guys ready for some I Am Number Four updates? Ok, then let’s start with information that Kevin Durand and Callan McAuliffe have joined the cast of the upcoming sci-fi film, directed by D.J. Caruso.

We’re here to remind you that Caruso (Disturbia, Eagle Eye) is directing the film from a script by Smallville creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and that shooting was said to begin next month in Pittsburgh. Check out the rest of our report for more details….

What we know about this upcoming project is that: “the film is an adaptation of the not-yet-released young-adult sci-fi novel of the same name by James Frey and Jobie Hughes. It follows a group of nine aliens who hide out on Earth after their own planet, Lorien, is destroyed by a rival race of aliens. The nine who escape are all teenagers who are beginning to develop special powers. The titular Number Four disguises himself as a high schooler while he and the rest of the survivors assimilate, but he then discovers they are still being hunted by their enemy race. “

The cast already includes interesting names: Durand will play “The Commander”, the bounty hunter who chases the nine aliens Number Four and Number Six to Earth from their alien planet.

Steven Spielberg Will Work on Jackie Kennedy Movie

Jackie Kennedy OnassisSeems like Steven Spielberg is shopping around a script entitled Jackie, and as you can guess, it’s about the late First Lady Jackie Kennedy Onassis, wife of President John F. Kennedy.

Ok, we all know that the lives of the entire Kennedy family have been very interesting to a lot of directors out there, but this time, with Spielberg’s name involved, looks like something completely new is on the way…

So, the script comes from journalist, author and former Today Show producer Noah Oppenheim and focuses on the days immediately following the assassination of JFK from her point of view.

Transformers 3 to be in 3D?

When director Michael Bay talked about “Transformers 3″ last year, he was adamant that the 3D “gimmick” wasn’t for him but now, according to Variety, Paramount and Industrial Light & Magic is considering producing “Transformers 3″ in 3D.

But there is a problem. There is extra time required to do production and visual effects in 3D, and with the release date already set for July 1st, 2011, that could be a problem.

Zachary Quinto As George Gershwin?

Zachary QuintoSome sites are reporting that Zachary Quinto (“Heroes” and “Star Trek”) has signed on to star in the upcoming biopic about the American composer and pianist George Gershwin.

Gershwin, who passed away suddenly at the age of 38 in 1937 of a brain tumor, composed music for both Broadway and the classical concert hall, as well as popular songs. Many of his songs became jazz standards recorded in numerous variations.

Nicole Kidman, Sam Worthington, Steven Spielberg Presenters For Golden Globes 2010

Nicole KidmanNicole Kidman, Steven Spielberg and Sam Worthington have been added to the list of presenters for the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

They join previously announced presenters Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Colin Farrell, Matthew Fox, Julia Roberts and Mickey Rourke.

Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio will present the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Cecil B. DeMille Award to Martin Scorsese for his “outstanding contribution to the entertainment field.”

The show, which will be hosted by Ricky Gervais, will be broadcast live coast to coast (5 to 8 pm PT, 8 to 11 pm ET) on NBC from the Beverly Hilton January 17, 2010.

Sean Connery and Harrison Ford are set to return to the “Indiana Jones” franchise.

Back when “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” was being written, George Lucas revealed that the script had Indy’s father in it, which meant that Sean Connery (Professor Henry Jones Senior) would need to reprise his role. Unfortunately, 79-year-old veteran actor refused and the script was quickly re-written. However, creators on the next movie, the fifth in the hugely successful franchise, are planning to bring Henry back.

Matt Damon will star in supernatural thriller “Hereafter,” Clint Eastwood‘s next producing-directing project for Warner Bros. Pictures, set to begin shooting this fall.

Peter Morgan, who got an Oscar nomination for “Frost/Nixon,” wrote the script. Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, Morgan and Tim Moore are executive producing. Spielberg previously worked as producer on Eastwood’s “Flags Of Our Fathers” and “Letters From Iwo Jima.”

James McAvoy and Robin Wright Penn

James McAvoy and Robin Wright Penn will pair up for Oscar Award winner Robert Redford-directed historical drama “The Conspirator“.

The period drama is based on true events following the assassination of US President Abraham Lincoln. The script for the movie is written by James Solomon.

Wright Penn is due to play Mary Surratt, the only woman who was charged with conspiring to kill the president in April 1865 and McAvoy will take on the role of young way hero Frederick Aiken, an idealistic young war hero who reluctantly defends the woman.

DreamWorks has acquired the screen rights to “I Am Number Four,” the first of a six-book science fiction series. Director Michael Bay (Transformers) is set to produce and possibly direct the novel adaptation.

The franchise is about a group of nine earthbound alien teens who escaped their planet just before it was destroyed by a hostile species. While the high school-aged kids assimilate, the title character discovers that he is being hunted by the enemy that blew up his planet.
