We finally have the first image from the upcoming
Sparkle movie, which is actually a remake of the 1976 movie of the same name inspired by
The Supremes.
As you already know (and see) this movie stars
Whitney Houston, Jordin Sparks, Tika Sumpter and
Carmen Ejogo, while
Jumping the Broom helmer
Salim Akil is in charge of directing the whole thing.
We first learned about this project last September, but in case you forgot – the original film told the story of a Harlem singing choir and the rough road to fame.
Sparks, Sumpter and Ejogo are on board to play three sisters who start out singing at their local church, and go on to find great success as a Motown girl group.
The rest of the cast includes
Derek Luke, Mike Epps, Cee-Lo Green and
Omari Hardwick.
Sparkle is set to hit the theaters on August 10th, 2012.
