Anna Kendrick, who earned an Oscar nomination for her role in Up in the Air, taken more of a central role starting with Pitch Perfect and now she's following up with another music-heavy role.
Kendrick will reportedly star in a film adaptation of the stage musical The Last Five Years, which tells the story of a relationship from both the man's and the woman's perspective, but while the man's story moves forward in time, the woman's moves backwards.
The film adaptation will find Kendrick as the female lead, Cathy, a struggling young actress. The script based on Jason Robert Brown's play is written and will be directed by filmmaker Richard LaGravenese (director of the upcoming Beautiful Creatures).
The Last Five Years is being sold at the American Film Market in Santa Monica this month.
