This sounds interesting, so let's do it fast! Antonio Banderas is all of the sudden attached to direct a love story titled Akil, and his wife Melanie Griffith (remember that lady?) is all of the sudden attached to star in the whole thing! There, I said it! Now the only thing you have to do is – click continue and find more details about the movie… (c'mon, I know you want to!)
So, the news comes straight from Variety, who report that Banderas has completed the screenplay and will also produce & fully-finance the project via his Green Moon.
The movie will center on an African boy named Akil who reaches Spain in a small boat. Fleeing from the police, he takes shelter in the house of an American woman (let us guess – it's Griffith!)
And that's basically all we know about Akil so far. Except that Banderas also mentioned that the movie is:
…a love story between two completely different people – in age, attitude, religion, wealth – who end up being essential to each other.Sounds…cute? Whatever! Let us also add that this will mark Banderas' third directorial effort, following the 1999 movie Crazy in Alabama (where Griffith starred as that unhappy wife Lucille Vinson) and the 2006 Summer Rain.
