I'm not sure what to think about this news, but what the hell –
Dirty Dancing was really a piece of something, so it's no surprise to hear that a remake of the whole thing is coming.
The latest reports say that
Glee co-creator
Brad Falchuk is already set to rewrite Maria Maggenti's screenplay for Dirty Dancing which is of course inspired by the well-known 1987 pic with Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze in the leading roles.
The good thing in this story is that the original film's choreographer,
Kenny Ortega, is set to direct and produce together with Debra Martin Chase.
Then, we also have
Eleanor Bergstein, who wrote and co-produced the original pic, also involved in a producing and consulting capacity.
And, let's also mention that this remake will incorporate classic songs from the 1960s, hits from the original film and brand new compositions. And that sounds great, right?
Anyway, at this moment we also know that Lionsgate is behind the remake, which also has a release date – July 26th, 2013.
Now, let us hear what you think about this?
