Cannes 2010: Takeshi Kitano’s Outrage Trailer
Takeshi Kitano‘s 15th movie, titled Outrage will be premiering next month at Cannes Film Festival 2010.
This could be just awesome thing to watch, and we're glad to hear that this director is back into action movies, after some brilliant film – list that includes titles like Violent Cop, Boiling Point, A Scene at the Sea, Fireworks and so on.
Check out the trailer and the rest of this report to see if this new Kitano's project worth to watch…
As always, the best way to start a story, is by giving you the official synopsis: This story “…begins with Sekiuchi (Kitamura Soichiro), boss of the Sannokai, a huge organised crime syndicate controlling the entire Kanto region, issuing a stern warning to his lieutenant Kato (Miura Tomokazu) and right-hand man Ikemoto (Kunimura Jun), head of the Ikemoto-gumi.
Kato orders Ikemoto to bring the unassociated Murase-gumi gang in line, and he immediately passes the task on to his subordinate Otomo (Beat Takeshi), who runs his own crew. The tricky jobs that no-one wants to do always end up in Otomo's lap…“
So, as you see, this is kind of basic yakuza plot, and this is a typical yakuza film about gangsters trying to survive in a violent world. Than, what's so special about this one?
There is something speciall about these Japanese movies that probably has to do a lot with some personal sense of action, that just leads you through the film. If you had a chance to watch some of the titles we mentioned at the beginning of this report, then you definitely know what we're talking about.
If not, this could be just the right time to start, and Outrage could (at least we are hoping it could) be the best choice.
We are more than happy this director returned to the gangster genre where he made his international name for director-star Takeshi Kitano. And don't be surprised with this “star” thing, since Takeshi also stars in his films and appears in this as Beat Takeshi.
At the end, we could repeat once again that Outrage will premiere at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival this May. The film doesn't have a US distributor despite the Warner Bros logo, but we hope something will change about that in the meanwhile.
Anyway, make sure you get ready for some good action from the director who has received critical acclaim, both in his native Japan and abroad.
