Carla Gugino, is set to play the female lead in ABC’s upcoming pilot titled Doubt. She will join previously announced Steve Coogan who is already on board to play a charming lawyer in David Shore‘s legal drama.
The good thing is that Gugino jumps in to star as Coogan’s intelligent, hard-working ex-wife who still has feelings for him and yes – you already know what that means – they still have a sexual relationship. Sounds promising!
So, at this moment we know that Tommy Schlamme will direct Doubt from a script written by Shore, and as we said, the whole thing will center on Coogan’s character – a former cop named Vincent.
THR describes him as a cunning but charming low-rent lawyer who uses his street smarts to work the system for his clients while battling his own demons and wooing his ex-wife. He is handsome, charming, charismatic, quick-witted, extremely smart – and cocky. He’s a maverick who will do anything to save his clients, even at the risk of his professional reputation.
Gugino, on the other hand, comes on board to play his ex-wife Linda, described as an intelligent, hard-working and a no-nonsense ADA with little patience for courtroom antics – especially when it comes to her ex. Despite their split and the fact that she can no longer live with Vincent, she still has feelings for him and they still have a sexual relationship.
Doubt cast also includes John Pankow, who is set to play an old-school attorney named Syd Newman, who works with his wife and fellow attorney in law offices they rent from Vincent.
This definitely sounds like an interesting project for ABC, hope you agree. At least that cast-part sounds awesome, so we’ll definitely keep an eye on Doubt!
