Christmas Morning Reimagined Through The Lens Of Famous Directors
The Auteurs of Christmas is a short film compiled from a series of vignettes into one clever mash-up from Martin Scorsese‘s monologues to Steven Spielberg's optimism and even Michael Moore's documentary-style confrontation on Santa Claus and commercialism.
St. Catharines-based theater company ‘Suitcase in Point' teamed up with Niagara video production house Fourgrounds Media to create what Christmas morning would look like in the styles of ten famous film directors, including Spielberg, Sergei Eisenstein, Wes Anderson, Woody Allen, Lars von Trier, Scorsese, Moore, Stanley Kubrick, Werner Herzog and Baz Luhrmann.
Moreover, actors from ‘Suitcase in Point' take Trier and Eisenstein's sensibilities and aesthetic styles, despite knowing that those two filmmakers aren't particularly known for their holiday spirit and apply them to your standard Christmas morning scene.
Also check out two other Christmas-related short films, Happy Holidays and If Santa was Hip… from Fourgrounds Media Inc. If some of these same directors could try filming the Super Bowl, I'd appreciate it.
