Warner Bros. Pictures has debuted the trailer for Tom Cruise‘s futuristic sci-fier Edge of Tomorrow, previously known as All You Need is Kill. (Matter of fact, it’s more clever than the new movie title.)
Based on the Hiroshi Sakurazaka acclaimed novel of the same name, the film was directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) and includes cast members like Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Kick Gurry, Dragomir Mrsic, Charlotte Riley, Jonas Armstrong and Franz Drameh.
Cruise, who just makes the sci-fi Oblivion, says two high-concept pics back-to-back was coincidence and timing:
Look, I make all different kinds of movies. When Doug (Liman) came to me and said what the story was and the design, I thought, ‘This is going to be cool. It’s going to be very different than anything I’ve done before.’
Well, he’s patriotic, I’ll give him that.
The epic of Edge of Tomorrow hits U.S. screens on March 7th, 2014.
Check out the first trailer with a lot of gritty action on display.
Synopsis:
The epic action of Edge of Tomorrow unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world. Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.
