“As you guys get older, you're gonna have to work harder to find time for each other – but it is well worth the effort.” This heartfelt piece of advice forms the thematic backbone of Ex-Husbands, an indie dramedy set to charm audiences when it debuts in February 2025. The film's newly released trailer offers a glimpse into a story that balances comedy and drama with equal poise, promising an engaging exploration of familial dynamics and personal growth.

Directed by Noah Pritzker, Ex-Husbands introduces us to Peter Pearce (Griffin Dunne), a Manhattan dentist grappling with the upheaval of his 35-year marriage's sudden end. In a bid to escape his unraveling life, Peter spontaneously heads to Tulum, Mexico. But his plans for quiet reflection take a sharp turn when he crashes his son Nick's bachelor party. As the intergenerational Pearce men navigate their respective crises amidst the vibrant backdrop of Tulum, comedic chaos and heartfelt revelations ensue.

The film reunites Griffin Dunne and Rosanna Arquette, whose chemistry in Martin Scorsese's After Hours (1985) remains a cinematic highlight. Although their screen time together in Ex-Husbands is brief, their presence anchors the film in emotional authenticity. Supporting performances by Richard Benjamin, James Norton, and Miles Heizer further enrich the narrative, bringing humor and depth to this family-centered tale.

Ex-Husbands premiered at the 2023 San Sebastian Film Festival and has since garnered acclaim on the festival circuit, with stops at Palm Springs and Sarasota. It was originally titled Men of Divorce, a nod to its exploration of male vulnerability and resilience in the face of life's upheavals.

Director Noah Pritzker, known for his previous work Quitters, crafts a narrative steeped in wit and warmth. The film's Mexican setting—lush beaches juxtaposed with intimate, character-driven scenes—mirrors the contrast between Peter's external escapades and internal struggles. The script's sharp humor and poignant moments make Ex-Husbands a relatable and compelling watch.

Greenwich Entertainment will release Ex-Husbands in select U.S. theaters starting February 19, 2025. With its blend of comedy and introspection, the film is poised to resonate with viewers navigating their own midlife complexities or seeking a deeper understanding of familial bonds.

Personal Impressions: Ex-Husbands feels like a cinematic embrace, offering humor and solace in equal measure. Griffin Dunne's portrayal of Peter is both charming and vulnerable, capturing the nuanced emotions of a man rediscovering himself. The interplay between Dunne and the younger cast members, especially Miles Heizer, highlights the generational divide with authenticity and wit.

Noah Pritzker's direction ensures the story remains grounded despite its comedic elements, allowing the characters' emotional arcs to shine. The lush visuals of Tulum not only provide a vibrant setting but also serve as a metaphor for Peter's journey from chaos to clarity. The film's ability to balance heartfelt moments with laugh-out-loud humor makes it a standout indie gem.
