Is Keanu Reeves Going to Be Plastic Man?
Could the Wachowski siblings be about to cast Keanu Reeves as the world's stretchiest superhero in an actual honest-to-God big-screen version of Plastic-Man? A scooper told CHUD that Joel Silver was on a German radio broadcast promoting “Ninja Assassin” when he said that the Wachowski's will direct Plastic Man next.
According to the report, the Wachowskis wrote a proposed Plastic Man script before they created The Matrix. Furthermore, the report claims that they are aiming for a release date of the end of 2009, and that Keanu Reeves will be playing the role of Eel O'Brien/Plastic Man in the film.
Could this possibly be true? Cinematic Happenings Under Development points out that the Wachowskis did work on a Plastic-Man script at one point, and Warner Bros. and DC Comics are trying to better exploit DC's stable of heroes. Still, this sounds dubious at best. We remain hopeful, though, because as CHUD's headline suggests, it would be nice to see Keanu Reeves stretch as an actor.
