Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne To Head Up Cinema Masterclass At Cannes 2009
The Dardennes will head up the Cinema Masterclass at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival on May 19, 2009 at the Bunuel Theater. In the lecture – Masterclass – they will discuss their experiences as directors.
Belgian directing duo Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne are two-time Palme d'Or winners for “Rosetta” (1999) and “L'enfant” (2005). They also received the screenplay award for last year's “Lorna's Silence“/“The Silence of Lorna.”
With a background in assistant directing and several documentaries the Dardennes busted onto the international scene with “La Promesse” (1996). The movie received Cesar film award for best foreign film.
Previous speakers include Martin Scorsese, Nanni Moretti, Wong Kar Wai, Sydney Pollack and Quentin Tarantino who headed up Cinema Masterclass at last year's Cannes Film Festival.
This year's, 62nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival, will run from May 13 to 24, 2009.
