Kat Dennings, who played Natalie Portman’s acerbic sidekick Darcy Lewis in Kenneth Branagh’s film adaptation of Marvel Comics’ will officially return for the upcoming sequel to Thor and the eighth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, tentatively titled Thor: The Dark World.
Dennings’ character will have a more integral role this time around, therefore she’ll have more screen time. When the first blockbuster film came out last summer she was still an indie darling, but now, thanks to her starring role in hit US sitcom 2 Broke Girls she’s a big sitcom star and it’s about time Dennings to get the recognition and starring role in Thor sequel she deserves.
Directed by Alan Taylor, The Dark World film is written by Robert Rodat and Don Payne and is scheduled to enter production this fall in London; it will be released on November 8th, 2013. Chris Hemsworth, Portman, Tom Hiddleston, and much of the cast from the first film reprise their roles in the film.
Here’s the plot:
Exploring Thor’s relationship with the Asgardian all-father Odin, as well earthbound companion Jane Foster, Thor: The Dark World follows the God of Thunder to The Nine Realms beyond Asgard and earth. And as his evil half-brother, Loki, returns for Asgardian justice, a new threat rises. Also rejoining Thor are his fellow Asgardians, Lady Sif, gatekeeper Heimdall and Warriors Three, as they encounter mythical Norse creatures among evildoers.
