Kiefer Sutherland, the iconic actor known for his gritty performances, is set to star in the upcoming action-packed thriller “Sierra Madre.” Directed by Justin Chadwick (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom), this film promises to be a heart-pounding ride from start to finish.
“Sierra Madre” follows the story of Captain Jordan Wright and his squadron, who are granted a much-needed break from their mission to attend a comrade's wedding in Mexico. However, their celebration is cut short when a ruthless cartel attacks, leaving Jordan no choice but to lead his surviving men to safety.
As war erupts between the squad and the cartel, Jordan engages in an intense battle to protect his team. With Sutherland at the helm, audiences can expect a performance filled with raw intensity and physicality, as he embodies the spirit of a leader fighting for his squad's survival.
The film is set to begin production this fall in Colombia, with a talented production team including Robert Stein (“The Call”), James Keach (“Walk the Line”), and Griff Furst (“Devil's Peak”). Highland Film Group is co-financing the film and handling worldwide rights, marketing it at the Marché du Film.
Sutherland, who is represented by CAA, Entertainment 360, and Lichter Grossman, recently worked on Clint Eastwood's latest project. He expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I'm thrilled to be joining the team on Sierra Madre, led by director Justin Chadwick. I feel it is a compelling thriller with great emotional and dramatic opportunities. … In simpler terms, it's a damn good story.”
Highland Film Group CEO Arianne Fraser added, “Kiefer Sutherland will bring the intensity and physicality of a leader fighting to keep his squad alive, embodying the spirit of brotherhood that runs through this story.” COO Delphine Perrier further commented, “Set in the exotic and remote landscape of Mexico, ‘Sierra Madre' presents a poignant narrative of heart and heroism.”
With a talented cast and crew, and a gripping storyline, “Sierra Madre” is shaping up to be one of the must-see action thrillers of the year. Fans of Sutherland and the genre can mark their calendars, as the film is slated for release later this year.
