Variety reports that Mel Gibson is in talks to star in spy thriller Cold Warrior which will be directed by Lethal Weapon screenwriter Shane Black from a script by Chuck Mondry.
The film is about a spy from the Cold War era who comes out of retirement to team with a younger agent from the new school to confront a domestic terrorism threat orchestrated by Russia.
Cold Warrior will be produced by Michelle Manning, David Greenblatt and Anthony Bagarozzi.
This would mark Gibson's return to working under a Universal Pictures studio banner. Gibson starts shooting the independent action drama “How I Spent My Summer Vacation,” based on a screenplay he wrote, in March and will likely segue to Cold Warrior in June.
