Michael Fassbender In Negotiations To Star In Danny Boyle’s Trances

Nick Martin May 8, 2011 Add a Comment

Fassbender-Boyle, Trances

Michael Fassbender's negotiations to be the first actor to get on Danny Boyle's welcome return to his roots of edgy fast-paced thriller, Trances, sound promising.

Original Trance is 2001 TV drama by Joe Ahearne focused on Tony (John Light) who works in an auction house, where he is regularly surrounded by valuable works of art. Enlisting the help of questionable character Brendan (Neil Pearson) and his fellows, Tony manages to formulate a plan to steal a priceless Goya painting. But things get worse when the attempted heist leaves Tony concussed, and Brendan with a poster reproduction of no value.

If a deal is closed, Fassbender would play the leader of the gang who teams up with the assistant.

Boyle is producing the remake with Christian Colson. Principal filming is scheduled to begin this fall, before Summer Olympics 2012. Once filming is wrapped the film will be edited after the Games and with an eye for a March 2013 release which also seemingly suggests that the feature is more genre fare.

No word on who'll get writing credit for Boyle (it is rumored that Ahearne will be returning) but feature is apparently a part of director's earlier works in Shallow Grave and Trainspotting—both those movies were written by John Hodge.

You probably remember that 127 Hour's helmer directed Slumdog Millionaire as well, the story of a deprived child on the streets of Mumbai for which Boyle won an Academy Award.

As for Fassbender he is most likely known to audiences for playing Lt. Archie Hicox in Quentin Tarantino‘s Inglourious Basterds.

In 2012, Michael will also star in Prometheus, directed by Ridley Scott.
