Watch: Disney’s New Mickey Mouse Short CROISSANT DE TRIOMPHE
The Mouse House rarely puts its iconic animal cartoon character in the spotlight these days. But after scoring an Oscar with Paperman, a new series of 19 retro-style shorts is immediately created to remind everyone why Mickey Mouse is so important in the first place.
Croissant de Triomphe is one of 19 new shorts that will begin airing on June 28th, 2013 on the Disney Channel, Disney.com and other Disney-branded platforms.
The shorts arrive from Emmy Award-winning Paul Rudish (Dexter’s Laboratory, Sym-Bionic Titan, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic) and feature classic Disney characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, Pluto and more.
Aaron Springer (SpongeBob SquarePants, Korgoth of Barbaria) and Clay Morrow (Dexter’s Laboratory, Chowder, Camp Lazlo!) are also directors that hearken back to Disney’s classic 1930s aesthetic, and also take inspiration from the animation studio’s 1950s and 60s cartoons for background design.
Croissant de Triomphe places Mickey in a bustling Paris as he tries to deliver croissants to Minnie, while future cartoons will feature Mickey and other favorite Disney characters in different settings around the world, including New York, Beijing, Tokyo and Venice.
