New Trailer For Sam Raimi’s OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL

Oz-Triptych Poster The new teaser trailer for the Mouse House’s semi-prequel to The Wizard of Oz just premiered over on iTunes, and while it may start exactly the same way as the first trailer, the latest overflows with more vibrant colors, zany creatures, and picturesque 3D trickery. Oz: The Great And Powerful, which marks the first blockbuster Sam Raimi has directed since he left the Spider-Man franchise has been a long time coming. But Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, which has the same cinematic treatment looks nearly amateur by comparison. The human includes James Franco playing the young ‘wizard’ Oscar Diggs along with Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams as the three witches wrestling to control the fate of Oz -Theodora, Evanora and Glinda, respectively. The CGI characters which are shown in trailer are timid flying monkey named Finley (Zach Braff) and hence the China Girl (voiced by Joey King) Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire and Mitchell Kapner (The Whole Nine Yards) penned the script based on the novel by L. Frank Baum. Oz: The Great And Powerful hits theaters next spring on March 8th, 2013, in 2D, 3D and 3D IMAX. Take a look at the trailer. Disney’s fantastical adventure Oz The Great and Powerful, directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot–fame and fortune are his for the taking–that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity–and even a bit of wizardry–Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.
