Check this out guys – Bad Santa helmer Terry Zwigoff is set to direct, and Nicolas Cage is attached to star in an upcoming indie drama titled Lost Melody. Yep, an indie drama, where Cage will play a man who’s stuck in a bad marriage and (like that’s not enough) falls in love with a prostitute. Shocking news?
Whatever. At this moment we know that Zwigoff will direct the whole thing from a script he co-wrote with Melissa Axelrod, which centers on:
…a man who’s trapped in a marriage to a shrewish wife and falls in love with a prostitute.
And that’s bascially all we know about the plot.
Still, what definitely sounds promising is that Edward R. Pressman (who’s set to produce the project) said that Lost Melody is a wonderful darkly-funny drama in the tradition of such classics as The Blue Angel and Sunset Boulevard.
The big question now is – who will come on board to play Cage’s wife, and more importantly – who will play the above mentioned prostitute?
