Well, if someone has some interesting plans for the future then it's definitely director Nicolas Winding Refn.
Yes, that's the same guy who directed Drive which just premiered in LA, and thanks to this premiere we now have some details about his upcoming projects that will have great (and let us also say) familiar cast on board, and great stories as well.
When we say familiar cast, you know we're talking about Drive star, Ryan Gosling, right? But we're not here to talk about that Logan Run remake!
This time, we'll have a chance to see Gosling in a little bit different environment – romantic comedy. Here's what Refn said in an interview with 24Frames:
“We're doing a comedy, and Albert Brooks promised he'd write the screenplay… Well, that's not exactly true. But print it and we'll make it true. It's a romantic comedy set in New York, which seems like a great place to start.”
Anyone surprised? Well, it looks Gosling's not, since he added:
“We're definitely going to do a comedy, and we're trying desperately to get Brooks to write it.”
Ok, Brooks, we're all waiting for you!
And while we're waiting, let's move to a different project that Refn (also) has in mind. Of course, it's his version of Wonder Woman, and it's the same project he already talked so much about:
“I guess one of the aims I am having, but at the very early stage, I always wanted to do Wonder Woman as a feature film…I would say that Wonder Woman is probably something that, to me, would be not just a satisfaction, but almost a [catharsis], and I was born to make it.”
Yeah, that's exactly what director said about his adaptation of Wonder Woman last year, but we're interested to find out what the hell is happening with that project?
Well, guess what, we do know that at this moment no Wonder Woman film is in development at Warner Bros. (surprise, surprise!), but we've just learned that Christina Hendricks will be Refn's wonder woman! Or, as he explained it:
“If I get to do it, she's going to be it.”
Well, she's an interesting choice, after all she also has a supporting role in Drive, and they make a great team together.
What do you think about Refn's future projects? Let us know, and stay tuned!
