Pacific Rim trailer that debuted during WonderCon back in late March has been released online to keep fans chomping at the bit for the summer release.
Guillermo del Toro wrote in an accompanying note:
This was originally intended for only WonderCon, but after listening to so many of you asking for more of the movie online, I think it's time for me to show you more footage. Enjoy, my friends!
Indeed, visually stunning monsters bursting out of the ocean, a giant Jaeger bot swinging an oil tanker, as Charlie Day‘s character says, it's ‘2,500 tons of awesome' that provides a lot more info on the story.
The upcoming giant-monsters-vs-giant-robots flick also stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Ron Perlman, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Brad William Henke and Diego Klattenhoff.
Pacific Rim is due out in 3D on July 12th, 2013.

Here's the official synopsis:
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
