Penelope Cruz Will Star in Ridley Scott’s THE COUNSELOR and Pedro Almodovar’s STANDBY LOVERS
Let's pretend we're surprised with this news, ok? Penelope Cruz is now officially on board for Ridley Scott‘s upcoming movie The Counselor!
We already had a little chat about the whole thing, so by now you should be familiar with this project and with its great cast which already includes Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem and Cameron Diaz.
But, it looks that Cruz now has another job on her plate, so make sure you check out the rest of this report for more details…
First I will remind you that The Counselor is the story of a present-day Southwest lawyer who gets in over his head in the drug trade.
Fassbender is on board to play that lawyer, while Cruz is now confirmed to play his love interest in the pic.
As for the rest of the cast, things are a little bit confusing at the moment. Diaz's part is still a mystery, but we do know that Pitt is on board to portray character named West Ray, while Bardem will portray a wealthy business associate of the film's criminal/attorney.
We're glad to hear that Penelope Cruz is so busy these days. In case you don't remember, she's also attached to star in Pedro Almodovar‘s new project Standby Lovers (Los amantes pasajeros) which will start shooting this summer.
Not much is known about the whole thing except that it's a comedy about an affair on an airplane, and that the rest of the cast looks interesting as well. Cruz will there star next to Antonio Banderas, Lola Duenas, Cecilia Roth, Paz Vega, Javier Camara, Carlos Areces, Raul Arevalo and Jose Maria Yazpik.
As usual – we'll keep an eye on both of these projects, so make sure you stay tuned!
