Roland Emmerich trashes the planet (again) in ‘2012’
Having smashed the stuffing out of dear old Earth in ‘Independence Day’ courtesy of a swarm of greedy alien interlopers and then dropped it into a new ice age courtesy of a decidedly annoyed Mother Nature in ‘The Day After Tomorrow’, it sounds like Roland Emmerich is at it again in his latest post apocalyptic epic ‘2012’.
The script for ‘2012’ is well and truly under wraps but whatever it is, it’s got nearly ever major studio in Hollywood clambering over each other to make it.
The whole thing has been written by Emmerich and his ‘10,000 BC’ composer, co-writer and executive producer Harald Kloser and all we know is that it’s likely to be something catastrophic and unpleasant for this here big round rocky thing we all live on.
The long predicted end of the world comes from ancient Mayan prophesies that refer to a multitude of cheery options that include a change in the new world order, sun spots triggering global climate change, an arse kicker of a comet laying waste to the place and even the anti-Christ showing up and getting rowdy. I’m personally predicting the terror brought about by 24 hours of solid TV coverage for the duration of the London Olympics myself. Not everyone loves sport you know!
Possible release date for ‘2012’ is being touted as 2009 and the easy money is on Fox getting their teeth into it given their past relationship with the lad.
More news on the end of the world when we get it.
