Sony Picks up Redfords THE COMPANY YOU KEEP

Nick Martin August 24, 2012 Add a Comment
Company You Keep Set Sony Pictures Classics aren't wasting any time and have put their stamp of quality on The Company You Keep, a thriller centered on a former Weather Underground activist who goes on the run from a journalist who has discovered his identity. Directed by and also starring Robert Redford, the film follows ‘a young reporter (Shia LaBeouf) who stumbles upon the story of his career when he uncovers the identity of a wanted ex-radical activist (Redford) who has been underground for five decades.' It features a spectacular cast including Julie Christie, Sam Elliott, Brendan Gleeson, Terence Howard, Richard Jenkins, Anna Kendrick, Brit Marling, Stanley Tucci, Nick Nolte, Chris Cooper, and Susan Sarandon. The political thriller is written by Lem Dobbs and based on Neil Gordon's 2003 novel. Sony Classics said in a statement:
Robert Redford's film is classic storytelling at its best, and we are really looking forward to bringing the film to the American audience.
The Company You Keep will play out of competition at the Venice and Toronto film festivals next month; there's no word on a general release date. Sony_Pictures_Classics
