Steve Guttenberg, Samantha Mathis Join AFFLUENZA
A follow-up to Kevin Asch's feature film debut, Affluenza is coming of age story on Long Island just before the 2008 financial crisis. Police Academy actor Steve Guttenberg and Broken Arrow's Samantha Mathis have been cast in the Asch's sophomore project.
Holy Rollers by first-time feature auteur, Kevin Tyler Asch was one of the most anticipated films at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, which starred Jesse Eisenberg and won Asch the Breakthrough Director Award at the 2010 Gotham Awards.
A modern-day take on The Great Gatsby, Affluenza reteams the scripter behind the above-mentioned indie dramedy, Antonio Macia with Great Neck-raised director.
The vet thesps join a youthful cast that includes Brit thesp Gregg Sukin (Wizards of Waverly Place), Nicola Peltz (The Last Airbender) and Ben Rosenfield (Greetings From Tim Buckley), who has the lead role of Fisher Miller; Grant Gustin (Glee) plays the college boyfriend of Peltz's character.
The film reportedly focus on Todd Goodman (Gustin), a preppy alpha male jock who hails from a wealthy family; a turn of events during the financial crisis of 2008 forces him to face life in the real world.
Director Asch sees a parallel between the Great Depression of the 1920s and the Great Recession of 2007-2008:
