There will also be some date for the fans to look out for as the starring characters Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and M. First of all, it is worth stating that Legendary Pictures has bought film and television rights for the legendary gaming series in 2023. It paved the way for a new vision in continuing a franchise that has already hooked gamers starting in 1987. Released in 1987, Street Fighter currently ranks among the top video game franchises grossing over 49 million units sold globally.

There are several live-action movies based on Street Fighter, although the most famous one came out in 1994 starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Kylie Minogue, Ming-Na Wen, and the late Raul Julia. In 2009, 20th Century Fox released Street Fighter: Chun Li, the superhero movie, features actresses Kristin Kreuk. These films did have some great scenes but audiences are waiting to see how Sony and Legendary are going do a remake on this classic series.

The new movie, which is yet to be developed, is expected to look at the fantastic history of Street Fighter and its colorful universe. Thanks to Capcom, one can only expect Capcom to create a proper adaptation full of evident references and spirit of the original work but at the same time – fresh story and visuals experience. The company that produced the movie, Capcom, is responsible for other notable series such as Resident Evil and, more recently, Monster Hunter, making fans expect a movie that is both thrilling and enjoyable.

As we eagerly await more information on the cast and crew, one thing is certain: This upcoming new live-action Street Fighter film is expected to be something of a return event for fans and a starting point for the newcomers. We will bring you more details as the launch draws near, but for now, get your thumbs ready to unleash the raw andchan excitement of Street Fighter this March 20, 2026.
