Empire Online has an interview with
Jason Statham who was just seen in
Death Race and will be seen in the upcoming
Transporter 3 and
Crank 2: High Voltage.
Statham revealed that the new movie will be inspired by
The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre (1948) – classic western written and directed by John Huston and starring
Humphrey Bogart and
Walter Huston. The two are prospectors who head down to Mexico in search of gold but lose their way when greed and bandits taint their interests. – and scripted by
David and
Janet Peoples (Twelve Monkeys).
“We've got a movie we're trying to do, written by David and Janet Peoples, in the vein of an old film, ‘The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre,'” he told Empire. “It's not a remake or anything, but it's a little bit like that – about relationships and how greed contaminates the relationships these three people have. The working title is “The Grabbers“.”
