Here are eight clips and five TV spots, from Bruce Robinson’s upcoming The Rum Diary. The movie, based on the novel by Hunter S. Thompson, stars Johnny Depp, Richard Jenkins, Amber Heard and Aaron Eckhart.

The story revolves around a New York journalist Paul Kemp (Depp) who travels down to Puerto Rico to work at the local paper. Depp previously played Thompson in “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” back in 1998. During the filming of that movie, Thompson showed Depp an unpublished manuscript for “The Rum Diary” and obviously convinced the actor to star in the film.
The Rum Diary is set to hit theaters on October 28th, 2011.
