Zombieland Director Ruben Fleischer Attached to Video Game Adaptation SPY HUNTER
Spy Hunter is a cabinet-style 1983 arcade game developed and released by Bally Midway, first in a popular coin version.
Ruben Fleischer whose Zombieland we liked so much is currently finishing up the period crime drama Gangster Squad, and for his next move, Fleischer will take on this video game.
He has signed on to direct and executive produce an adaptation of Spy Hunter for Warner Bros. Pictures and will recruit new scribes to set up the treatment that has been stuck in limbo at studio for years. There was a Spy Hunter script from Chad St. John, who penned the recently halted Albert Hughes revenge thriller Motor City.
John Woo was attached to direct with Dwayne Johnson attached to star before Paul W.S. Anderson loosely got in the driver's seat.
Spy Hunter is actually returning this fall to the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita and it's an opportunity to make a movie.
However, this will get made at some point. Stay tuned.
