Jack the Giant Killer is a British fairy tale about a young brave Celtic who eliminates a number of giants during King Arthur’s reign.
In 1961, United Artists released a middle budget film produced by Edward Small and directed by Nathan H. Juran called Jack the Giant Killer. The film performed quite well at the box office.
Bryan Singer shoots a modern day fairy tale in which the ancient peace between men and giants is in danger, as a young farmer leads an expedition into the giants’ kingdom in hope of rescuing a kidnapped princess. Starring Aaron Johnson. By all accounts the movie is kind of an adult version of the original.
Bryan Singer (X-Men, X-Men 2) is planning to use a lot of natural light instead of usual extreme studio lighting. While talking about his plans for the film he expressed happiness to using the Epic Red for this one, which would be shot in 3D. The camera’s amazingly compact size and astonishing resolution were ideal for the 3D format, he said. Bryan pointed out that the Epic’s extraordinary exposure latitude would allow him to more effectively explore the use of natural light.
Singer said:
I’m very much looking forward to using the EPIC Red for my next movie Jack the Giant Killer which will be shot in, what else, 3D. The camera’s incredibly compact size and extraordinary resolution are ideal for the 3D format.
But more importantly Jack the Giant Killer is my first movie set in a time before electricity. The EPIC’s extraordinary exposure latitude will allow me to more effectively explore the use of natural light.
The 2010 Academy Award-nominated District 9 was mostly shot using Red Ones. The Social Network was shot on the Red One camera at 4K resolution. Kevin Smith has also been filming his upcoming Red State on a Red camera.
