Mendelsohn Boards the Cast of Anne Fontaine’s THE GRANDMOTHERS
Animal Kingdom star Ben Mendelsohn along with model turned actress Sophie Lowe, Aussie TV actor Gary Sweet and newcomer Jessica Tovey has come aboard The Grandmothers film, which already stars Robin Wright-Penn, Naomi Watts, James Frecheville and Xavier Samuel.

Aussie actress Naomi Watts has signed on to star along American actress Robin Wright in a French director Anne Fontaine’s next film, an adaptation of Australian Nobel Prize-winning author Doris Lessing’s novel The Grandmothers.
The feature will also star Xavier Samuel (Anonymous) and James Frecheville (Animal Kingdom).

Here’s something fresh, with big “f”! French helmer Anne Fontaine, best known for her Coco Before Chanel biopic, is now on board to direct an adaptation of the 2003 novella by Nobel Prize-winner Doris Lessing, titled The Grandmothers.

Audrey Tautou plays Gabrielle Chanel, known as Coco, before she became famous. The movie also stars Alessandro Nivola, Marie Gillain, Emmanuelle Devos and Benoît Poelvoorde.

Here are the first official photos from “Coco Before Chanel” (’Coco Avant Chanel‘), featuring a look at Audrey Tautou as the famous fashion designer Coco Chanel.
“Coco Before Chanel,” biopic of celebrated fashion designer Coco Chanel is based on book “L’Irreguliere” (The Nonconformist) by Edmonde Charles-Roux, directed and written by Anne Fontaine and Camille Fontaine. The movie also stars Alessandro Nivola, Marie Gillain, Emmanuelle Devos and Benoît Poelvoorde.
Karl Lagerfield Supervisor For “Coco Before Chanel”
Warner Bros. will produce and finance “Coco Before Chanel” (“Coco Avant Chanel“) a biopic of legendary French fashion designer Coco Chanel which is based on book by Edmonde Charles-Roux “L’irreguliere.”
Production will begin next month in Paris under the direction of Anne Fontaine. Her adaptation of “L’irreguliere” will focus on Chanel’s early years. Fontaine co-wrote the script with Camille Fontaine and Christopher Hampton.
The four-month shoot will begin on September 15th in Paris, with a planned 2009 release.
