Couple Arrested For Pirating Hannah Montana Movie
The audience at a weekend performance of “Hannah Montana: The Movie” included the usual hordes of young girls, along with a Hoffman Estates man operating a video camera from his seat, authorities said today.
Gerardo Arellano and his wife, Maribel Fernandez, both 32, were arrested after police officers found him with the camera balanced on his leg during a showing in South Barrington of the new Miley Cyrus movie, the weekend’s top money maker, officials said.

Hannah Montana: The Movie acted as my official introduction to the identity crisis that is Miley Cyrus and her pop-music-powered alter ego. I have two boys, after all. The farthest we’ve ventured down Disney’s empowered-female food chain is Kim Possible (which, for the record, deserves its own live-action film adaptation in the vein of Tomb Raider, yet better). But now, at least, I understand the hoopla surrounding this spunky, cool, and charismatic young performer. Hannah Montana goes more than a little bit country for her first (nonconcert) big-screen outing, and the resulting Nashville/bubble gum fusion doesn’t necessarily represent the best of both worlds.
Not that the tweens will mind the twang. “Hannah Montana: The Movie” is a can’t-miss proposition for Disney, which is smartly striking while the iron is still reasonably hot.
