Universal Pictures has released nine new photos from the latest installment of the Fast and the Furious series, Fast Five.
The film takes place in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. After the events of the fourth movie, Fast & Furious, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker), and Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster) are forced to flee the country. Once they reach Brazil, the three assemble a crew of friends and drivers to go head to head with a corrupt businessman. But on their tail is the dogged and relentless federal agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), who has sworn to bring them in, but soon discovers that he is not sure which side he is on. You can also probably expect a fair amount of driving and car chases, and probably some big explosions.
The film also brings back several faces familiar to the franchise, including Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson (from the second film, 2 Fast 2 Furious) Matt Schulze (Vince from the original The Fast and the Furious), and many others that have made an appearance throughout the course of the series. Even death can't stop this crew from re-assembling, as Sung Kang's (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and Fast & Furious) character of Han appears to have pulled a Lazarus and risen from the dead.
Fast and Furious 6 is also in the early stages of development!
Fast Five (Fast and Furious 5), directed by Justin Lin (Fast and Furious, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift), hits theaters on April 29, 2011.
