James McAvoy Talks X-Men: First Class

Nick Martin January 4, 2012 1 comment
James McAvoy, X-Men: First Class Referring to previously posted news about one of this summer's biggest blockbusters, the Matthew Vaughn-directed X-Men: First Class, we have some of recent James McAvoy talks his role as Professor X (due in theaters on June 3rd), about what it's like having freedom with their portrayals and how he wishes he had a more visual superpower and some more. Asking about his way toward the character, especialy in the light of Patrick Stewart‘s performances in the previous X-Men films, McAvoy disclosed that Xavier was at first going to be bald, but the studio rejected the idea. It seems that this detail was enough to help him escape from under the influence of Stewart's performance. Chatting about how the character is different than the one we've already seen on the screen, McAvoy expressed that he doesn't see the point of doing a prequel set years earlier that features static characters. As such, Xavier's principles are in tact in the new film, however, other elements are positively changed. In addition to “odds and ends,” three scenes being worked on are the ending and two scenes out on the water:
We doing a tiny little tweak on the very end, finale thing between me and Michael [Fassbender], who plays Magneto. And we're doing, what else are we doing? It's all little bits and bobs and things that we dropped or didn't know we needed or trying to fix a little scene here or there or tighten up a scene here or there. We're doing a little bit on a boat at one point, which is going to be fun; then a lot of underwater stuff last week, which I can't really tell you what it's about, but it's quite exciting. Just bits and bobs really.”
And answering what's the toughest part about playing such a popular character, McAvoy revealed
The toughest part is probably that I've got a great superpower and, if you had it in real life, it would be amazing, but in a movie, everybody else is bouncing off the walls and shooting fucking beams of light out of their chest and doing crazy stuff and making things fly around, and I'm [putting my finger to my forehead]. It just feels a little bit like, “Oh, god!” But, what's nice is that it means I have less CGI and stunt work to do, which means I have more time in my bed. That's the thing. I look at all the other people using their superpowers and I'm like, “That would have been fun!”
It likely won't be too much longer until we see a trailer for the new film, and then, we're going to have to settle for bits and details like this. Stay tuned for more news as it comes.

Can’t wait for this movie. I’m hooping it will be a little better than the Wolverine movie or the horrendous X-Men 3…the first two X-Men movies were perhaps the best superhero movies made up until the Dark Knight came about. As a DISH Network customer and employee I found this article using the Logitech Revue with Google TV (you know, the thing from the Kevin Bacon commercial) while looking for news on the new X-Men movie. I’m also posting this message from my couch, using Google TV. Love it, and can’t wait to see how Mcavoy does as Professor X.
