Agora Photo Take a look at teaser trailer for the upcoming Alejandro Amenábar‘s Roman Egypt historical drama “Agora.” In the movie Rachel Weisz plays Hypatia, an Alexandrian astrologer-philosopher struggling to save the collected wisdom of the ancient world. It also stars Max Minghella as Hypatia's slave, Davus who turns to the rising tide of Christianity in the hopes of pursuing freedom while also falling in love with his master (Weisz). The film also stars Oscar Isaac, Ashraf Barhom, Homayoun Ershadi, Jordan Kiziuk, Michael Lonsdale, Rupert Evans and Richard Durden. Amenábar's ancient Egyptian epic marks his second English-language film after “The Others” (Nicole Kidman). He previously directed “The Sea Inside,” which won the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar in 2005. “Agora,” directed by Alejandro Amenábar who is also the writer with Mateo Gil, is currently in post-production and slated to come out on December 18th 2009. The philosopher and mathematic Hypatia, was also big form of her season with her wild murder from the patriarch of Alexandria Cyrille, became the hero of later antiquity. For this murder, the christianity still has not apologized from the humanity!
The murder of Hypatia is completely confirmed and is not suseptible of no contestation. Hopes also Amenabar it respects completely the historical sources, even if already it has fallen in the first historical inaccuracy, placing her death 25 years before!
