But, before the announcement of the official Selection on April 15th, the Festival de Cannes unveils its poster: the image of the 63rd edition is a photograph of Juliette Binoche by Brigitte Lacombe. And here's something official about this poster : “Continuing the series of heroines as representations of screen mysteries, initiated two years ago, festival organizers were charmed by this allegorical figure of the cinema who gives life to the image with a single stroke of her luminous brush. The figure illuminates the scene with her presence; the magic of her enigmatic gaze heightened by her austere attire, the grace of her gesture is an invitation to follow. “ We will definitely accept this invitation, so make sure you stay with us! We already had a little chat about one of the world's oldest and most prestigious film festivals, the upcoming Cannes Film Festival 2010, so you all know that Ridley Scott directed Robin Hood will have an honour to open it.
You also know that this would be the 63rd film festival in Cannes history, so let big red carpet show begin, on Wednesday May 12th 2010!
Although the official selections are going to be announced April 15th, there are already some rumors about the movies for potential contention.
So, we have some speculations that include pretty interesting titles, like Julie Bertucelli‘s The Tree (starring last year's Cannes Best Actress winner Charlotte Gainsbourg), Peter Mullan‘s Neds and …But Film Is My Mistress (the second part of Stig Bjorkman's Ingmar Bergmantribute) and all of this films are all likely to be slotted in various festival programs.
But then, the funny thing happened. Among all this titles (and much more), we had a chance to hear that two movies that are still not expected at big screen, will possibly be screened in Cannes!
First one on the list is Christopher Nolan‘s highly anticipated sci-fi mindbender Inception that may unspool in a work-in-progress screening at the festival. Of course, that's not such a big surprise, since we all know that good promotion is probably the 50% of movie success.
On the other hand, there are rumors that also include Anton Corbijn‘s movie The American with George Clooney as an assassin who vows his next mission will be his last, movie with release date September 1, 2010. Quite interesting stuff, right?
